  • The reports tool is an easy to use data analytics tool which delivers a greater perspective across all channels and provides additional insight into what’s happening with your digital communications
  • Allows you to monitor multiple campaigns and their success
  • Delivers real time detailed results
  • You can choose the reporting types that best fit your needs
    • Standard
      • Are available on all accounts
      • Allows you to access new and existing reports across multiple channels
        • Email
        • Mobile
        • Social
      • Layout and information is defined and cannot be altered
      • Define report parameters
    • Custom
      • Available at an additional cost
      • Are created by ExactTarget per client request
      • These are created when Standard or Discover Reports do not provide the data needed for your specific needs
    • Discover
      • Is a premium reporting solution that gives instant views into marketing metrics, and lets you control report presentation and content
      • Delivers speed of thought insights via cross-tab, pivot table-style reports and rich interactive visualizations with data refreshed daily

How to Access the Reports Tool

  • From Marketing Cloud, click on Reports from the Marketing Cloud app switcher
  • You will be taken to the overview page
  • From there you will have three ways to access reports
    • Click on Catalog in the toolbar
    • If you defined a specific report as a shortcut, you can access it from the report shortcuts box
    • You can also access a category of reports from the Report Catalog
      • The report catalog area will list all the available report categories in your account
      • Report categories:
        • Custom
        • Discover
        • Email
        • MobileConnect
        • SocialPages

What is a Report?

  • A report provides you aggregated information about your subscribers, sends, and other aspects of your ExactTarget Email, Mobile (MobileConnect and MobilePush) and Social (Social Pages) applications
  • There are three types of reports
    • Standard
    • Custom
    • Discover
  • When executing standard reports, you select the date range, date format, timezone and other report specific parameters

How to Create Reports

  • Navigate to reports from the marketing cloud app switcher
  • To create a new report, navigate to the report catalog page
  • To access a standard email report, click on the Email report catalog
  • Using filters helps to find a report quickly
  • Filters allow you to set criteria for the type of report and then only those reports meeting the filter will appear in the workspace
  • When “Exclude Jobs Where Tracking is Suppressed” has been chosen in the Guided Send, User-Initiated Send or Send Activity, all tracking data will be excluded from the report

Delivering and Scheduling Reports

  • There are 5 ways to deliver and schedule a report
    • Email
      • Send to an email address or multiple email addresses, separated by a comma or semi colon
      • Format options will vary based on the report
        • Zip
        • XLS
        • XLSX
        • CSV
      • Can include a subject line and note to include in the Email
    • Upload the report to the Enhanced FTP
      • Saved to the ExactTarget Enhanced FTP server
      • The file type options will vary
        • Zip
        • XLS
        • XLSX
        • CSV
      • Type the name then select the folder on the FTP site to save
    • Download to your computer
      • Report will be saved to your computer hard drive
      • Report source will be auto populated with the report name as it appears in the catalog
      • The file type options will vary
        • Zip
        • XLS
        • XLSX
        • CSV
    • Save a snapshot of the report
      • Online file folder for runs of a report
      • Reports will be saved in a common workspace
      • Useful for collaboration
      • Ability to see previous versions of the report
      • Access Snapshot by clicking on the name of the report on the Report Overview Page
      • The file type options will vary
        • Zip
        • XLS
        • XLSX
        • CSV
    • Schedule the report to run on a reoccurring basis
      • Establish a schedule for creating and delivering a report
      • Report can be emailed, placed on FTP or saved as a Snapshot
        • Default is to have the report emailed
      • The scheduling option is only available to reports created via the Report Tool
      • The file type options will vary
        • Zip
        • XLS
        • XLSX
        • CSV
      • Can choose to run a report:
        • None (Run Once)
        • Hourly
        • Daily
        • Weekdays
        • Weekly
        • Monthly
        • Yearly
      • You can determine when the schedule will end
        • The after option allows you to enter the number of occurrences the schedule will run
        • On Date allows you to enter a date for the schedule to stop
